Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, individuals with a history of allergic reactions to this medication or its components should not take it. Additionally, patients with symptoms of orthostatic hypotension may experience worsened symptoms when taking this medication, thus it should be avoided. Patients with severe liver dysfunction may have elevated blood concentration of this medication, so it is advisable not to administer it. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not use this medication. Since this medication contains lactose, individuals with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders should not take it. Patients with severe kidney disease, the elderly, patients taking PDE5 inhibitors or CYP3A4 inhibitors, and those taking antihypertensives or alpha-1 blockers should use this medication cautiously. In particular, patients on alpha-1 blockers should not generally use this medication together, but if it is necessary, it should be administered with caution. Patients with a history of urinary syncope should also use this medication carefully. When taking this medication, symptoms of blood pressure drop such as syncope or loss of consciousness may occur, so if any unusual symptoms appear, the medication should be stopped immediately and medical attention should be sought. Neurological symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, headache, and insomnia may also occur, so caution is advised. Cardiovascular side effects such as low blood pressure and rapid heartbeat have also been reported. If allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching occur, the medication should be stopped immediately. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as dyspepsia, nausea, constipation, and diarrhea may also appear. Liver dysfunction or jaundice may develop, so if symptoms of liver dysfunction appear, the medication should be discontinued and appropriate treatment sought. Other rare side effects include nasal congestion, swelling, urinary incontinence, blurred vision, dermatitis, and severe allergic reactions. Overdosing on this medication may lead to a risk of excessively low blood pressure, so adherence to the prescribed dosage is crucial. Blood pressure may drop upon standing, so it is important to change positions slowly. This medication is a treatment method for symptom relief, so if it is ineffective, other treatment options such as surgery should be considered. Dizziness or drowsiness should prompt avoidance of driving or hazardous activities. Since this medication has similar symptoms to prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia, it is important to check for the presence of prostate cancer before administration. Rarely, priapism may occur; if this condition persists, medical attention must be sought immediately. Patients undergoing cataract or glaucoma surgery may experience intraoperative floppy iris syndrome, necessitating caution in surgical methods. Patients who have had allergic reactions to sulfonamide drugs should take care when using this medication. The risk of low blood pressure may increase when taken with other antihypertensives or PDE5 inhibitors; thus, careful supervision is necessary when co-administering as per doctor's instructions. Especially with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, the blood concentration of this medication can significantly increase, hence it is advisable not to use them together. Safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in women and children, hence it is not used in these populations. The elderly may experience reduced kidney function, so it should be administered starting at a low dose while monitoring the condition. When taking the medication, ensure to remove it from the PTP packaging, do not chew the sustained-release tablets, and take precaution to not open capsules or chew granules. Lastly, this medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to other containers should be avoided.
