View approved original text

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a condition where the prostate enlarges and causes urinary problems. This medication improves symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, aids in the regression of the enlarged prostate, and facilitates urinary flow. Additionally, it reduces the frequency of acute urinary retention, thus preventing sudden urinary disorders. This medication helps decrease the need for surgical treatments such as transurethral resection of the prostate or prostatectomy, thereby effectively improving the quality of life. It is widely used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

How to take

Precautions

This medication should not be used in children or women. Especially, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should not touch broken fragments of this medication, as it may pose a potential risk to male fetuses. Depressive symptoms or mood changes may occur during the use of this drug; consult a healthcare professional if these symptoms arise. Individuals who are allergic to this medication or its components, women, children, pregnant women, or those who may become pregnant should not take this medication. Patients with liver function problems should use this medication cautiously. While this medication is generally safe, side effects related to sexual function may occur, including erectile dysfunction, decreased libido, and ejaculation disorders. These symptoms are usually temporary. There have been reports linking long-term use to an increased risk of male breast cancer, but a direct association with this medication is not yet clear. This medication may increase the risk of certain high-grade prostate cancers; thus, men over 55 should consult a physician before use. This medication has few drug interactions and can generally be used safely in combination with other medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, as use during pregnancy poses a risk of genital abnormalities in male fetuses. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established, and use is not recommended. In elderly patients, it can be used without dosage adjustment; however, consultation with a physician is necessary before use. This medication can lower prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, so caution is required when interpreting PSA test results. No specific treatment is available for overdose, but it is essential to adhere to the recommended dosage. Store out of reach of children and in its original container to maintain quality.
