This medication is used in adult patients with acute coronary syndrome who need to be treated with clopidogrel and aspirin together. Acute coronary syndrome includes unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction and applies to patients undergoing drug therapy, coronary intervention (including stenting), or coronary artery bypass surgery. This medication helps improve atherosclerotic symptoms such as death, myocardial infarction, stroke, or refractory ischemia due to cardiovascular anomalies. Additionally, it is used to reduce the risk of stroke and thromboembolism in atrial fibrillation patients with one or more vascular risk factors when vitamin K antagonist therapy is not suitable and bleeding risk is low. Therefore, this medication is used to effectively reduce the risks and complications of vascular diseases.

Precautions

This medication prevents blood from clotting and stopping thrombus formation. During treatment, bleeding may take longer to stop than usual, so if there is significant or prolonged bleeding, it should be reported to a doctor immediately. Especially, it is essential to inform medical personnel that you are taking this medication before any surgery or starting new medications. Patients with genetically reduced enzyme activity may have reduced effectiveness of the drug, and adjustments to the treatment method may be necessary in such cases. Taking this medication with certain drugs or alcohol may increase the risk of bleeding, so it must be discussed with an expert. It is safe for patients with allergy predispositions, bleeding tendencies, severely impaired liver or kidney function, pregnant women in the late stages of pregnancy, or breastfeeding women to avoid taking this medication. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases should be closely monitored due to the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding while taking this medication. This medication increases the risk of bleeding, so it should be discontinued 5 to 7 days before any planned surgery and resumed only after hemostasis. If any symptoms of bleeding or abnormal blood symptoms occur during treatment, consult medical personnel immediately for necessary tests. This medication may further increase the risk of bleeding when taken with other antiplatelet agents or anticoagulants, so concurrent use should be carefully considered. Its safety has not been established in children and adolescents, and it is not recommended. It does not affect driving or machine operation, but caution is necessary considering the bleeding risk. Overdose may significantly increase the risk of bleeding, and immediate medical assistance should be sought in such cases. When storing, keep it in a cool place out of reach of children, and avoid transferring it to other containers.
