This medication is generally taken twice daily with meals, and the dose should be gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal adverse effects caused by metformin. 1. For patients not previously treated with metformin: The initial dose is one tablet (50/500 mg) taken twice daily, and it can be increased to 50/1000 mg if necessary. 2. Precautions

This medication contains two components, and there are points to be cautious about for each component. First, one of the components may cause allergic reactions. Severe allergy reactions or skin conditions can occur within three months after administration, so if such symptoms are suspected, it is necessary to stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Second, this medication can cause pancreatitis, a serious pancreatic disease, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur during treatment, inform a healthcare provider immediately. Third, the other component should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function, and patients with severe infections, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction that could affect kidney function should also avoid taking this medication. Fourth, this medication can cause a rare but fatal metabolic disorder called lactic acidosis, so regular kidney and liver function tests should be conducted, and it should be discontinued during dehydration, severe vomiting, or diarrhea. Fifth, during the use of this medication, alcohol consumption should be avoided, and before undergoing sudden surgery or radiological contrast examinations, the healthcare provider should be consulted to temporarily stop taking the medication. Sixth, this medication can cause hypoglycemia, so particularly when taken with insulin or other blood sugar-lowering agents, blood sugar levels should be checked frequently, and if hypoglycemia symptoms appear, immediate action should be taken. Seventh, it is safer for pregnant or potentially pregnant women and breastfeeding women not to take this medication. Finally, the safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children, so it should not be used in pediatric patients under 18 years old. It is crucial to conduct regular blood tests and physical examinations during the use of this medication to detect abnormal symptoms early and continuously monitor health status.
