This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled by monotherapy with pimasartan potassium. How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., morning). Elderly patients (aged 70 and under) do not require dose adjustment at the start. For patients with renal impairment of mild to moderate severity (creatinine clearance 30-80 mL/min), no dose adjustment is necessary; however, severe cases (creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min) should start treatment with pimasartan at 30 mg.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, swelling, urination difficulty, insomnia, and flushing may occur while taking this medication, and serious adverse reactions may occur rarely; thus, it is crucial to consult a healthcare professional if symptoms arise. This medication lowers blood pressure, so care must be taken as dizziness or fainting can occur if blood pressure drops too low when starting or increasing the dosage. Furthermore, this medication can increase potassium levels in the blood; patients with heart or kidney diseases should have regular blood tests. Interactions may occur when using this medication with other blood pressure medications, diuretics, and potassium-sparing drugs, so patients should inform healthcare providers of any other medications they are taking. It may be risky for the fetus during pregnancy, so it should not be taken if planning to become pregnant or during pregnancy, and breastfeeding should be avoided or discontinued.
