Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with Pimasartan Potassium. This helps to effectively manage blood pressure when Pimasartan Potassium alone is not sufficient.
The recommended dosage for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water irrespective of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day (for example: in the morning). In elderly patients and those with mild to moderate renal impairment, initial dosage adjustment is not required. Severe renal impairment patients should start treatment with Pimasartan 30 mg. It is not to be administered to patients with moderate to severe liver impairment.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus, particularly if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately. This medication should not be administered to individuals with allergies to its components, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients undergoing kidney dialysis, those with moderate to severe liver impairment, patients with biliary obstruction, individuals with certain hereditary lactose intolerance, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and those in shock. Caution should be exercised when administering to patients with reduced blood volume or impaired kidney function, those with renovascular hypertension, patients with aortic and mitral stenosis, primary aldosteronism, severe hypotension, elderly individuals, and patients with allergies to certain pigments. Upon taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headaches, facial swelling, urinary disorders, insomnia, and flushing may occur; consult a physician if any unusual symptoms appear. There may be a risk of hypotension or electrolyte imbalance, especially when used in conjunction with diuretics, so blood pressure and electrolyte levels should be monitored regularly. Patients with renal insufficiency or heart failure may be at risk for hyperkalemia and should have their serum potassium levels checked regularly. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive agents, diuretics, potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, lithium, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so inform healthcare providers of any concurrent medications. If pregnant or breastfeeding, the use of this medication may pose a risk to the fetus and newborn, so a consultation with a physician is essential before deciding to use it. Safety in children has not been established; therefore, it is advised not to use it in individuals under 18 years of age. Elderly patients or those with liver impairment may require dosage adjustments or should use this medication with caution, and it is deemed unsafe for individuals with severely impaired liver function. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include hypotension, palpitations, bradycardia, and vasodilation; contact a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment.
