Local anesthetic effect for procedures such as needle insertion and mucosal surface anesthesia.
This medication is used for surface anesthesia to reduce pain during the insertion of needles or simple surgical procedures on the skin. It is also used to anesthetize the surface of the genital mucosa, for example, to relieve pain before the removal of condylomas. Additionally, it can be applied as surface anesthesia before superficial surgery to wash the area of the leg ulcer or to remove fibrin, pus, or necrotic tissue, thus helping reduce discomfort for the patient. It effectively alleviates pain that patients may experience during procedures.
1. Skin: After applying this medication, cover it with adhesive tape. Sealing of the application area should typically be maintained for 1-3 hours, and at least 1 hour of effect persists after removing the tape. 1) For needle insertion (e.g., intravenous catheterization, blood sampling) apply about 2g of this medication for a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 5 hours. 2) For superficial surgical minor procedures [e.g., excision of epidermoid cysts] apply 1.5-2g/10cm2 for 1 hour.
Infants aged 3 months to 12 months: total amount 2g, not exceeding application area of 16cm2.
This drug is used as a local anesthetic and carries a risk of causing a blood abnormality called methemoglobinemia in certain patients. Especially, patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, congenital or idiopathic methemoglobinemia, patients with heart or lung damage, infants under 6 months, and those exposed to oxidizers may be more sensitive to this condition and require caution. While using this medication, it is necessary to carefully monitor for symptoms such as cyanosis, abnormal blood coloring, seizures, coma, or arrhythmia. This medication should not be used in individuals with allergies to its components or amide-type local anesthetics, in patients with wounds, mucous membranes, contact dermatitis, or atopic dermatitis, infants under 3 months, and infants or preterm infants who are taking certain medications. Patients with specific health conditions such as anemia, liver disease, elderly individuals, or those who are frail should use this medication cautiously, as it contains ingredients that may cause skin reactions. Local reactions such as redness, swelling, burning sensation, and pruritus may occur, and rarely, allergic reactions or severe anaphylactic shock can happen. This medication should not be applied to the eyes and ears, and if it comes into contact with the eyes, it should be immediately rinsed with clean water or saline. Overuse may lead to methemoglobinemia or central nervous system and cardiovascular side effects, and immediate treatment is required if symptoms occur. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, the effects on the fetus or newborn are minimal, but use should be determined on a case-by-case basis with physician discretion. Use in children, especially infants under 3 months, should be limited, and in this age group, it should not be used in conjunction with medications that may induce methemoglobinemia. This drug may increase the risk of toxicity when used together with other local anesthetics or specific medications, so close monitoring is required during combination therapy. Adhere to the recommended dosage and application time when using, and patients with atopic dermatitis should shorten the application time to minimize skin reactions.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. It is important to maintain a storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
