Treatment of hypertension and kidney disease (in patients with type 2 diabetes)
This medication is used to treat hypertension. In particular, for patients with hypertension who also have type 2 diabetes, it helps prevent and treat kidney disease. Therefore, it assists in managing kidney damage caused by hypertension and diabetes. Patients should remember that this medication not only helps control blood pressure but also plays a positive role in maintaining kidney health. This medication is used for the treatment of hypertension and related kidney disease.
This medication is recommended to be taken daily at the same time, regardless of meals. For the treatment of hypertension, the recommended oral dosage of Losartan Potassium is 50 mg once daily. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, the dosage may be divided into two doses per day or increased up to 100 mg once daily as needed. For patients with type 2 diabetes who have hypertension and kidney disease, the dosage is 50 mg once daily, and if needed, can be increased up to 100 mg once daily.
For children and adolescents aged 6 years and older, weighing between 20 kg and 50 kg, the dosage is 25 mg once daily, which can be increased to a maximum of 50 mg. For children and adolescents weighing over 50 kg, the dosage is 1 day.
This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take it. It should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to this medication, severe liver impairment, hereditary angioedema, or primary hyperaldosteronism. Elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, mild to moderate liver impairment, heart valve disease, and patients with decreased blood volume require special caution when using this medication. This medication can cause various side effects, including muscle cramps, dizziness, upper respiratory infections, and rarely, serious adverse reactions such as angioedema, hepatitis, and renal failure. Patients with liver impairment may require dose adjustments as the concentration of this medication can increase, and those with reduced kidney function should also be administered with caution. Combining it with potassium-sparing drugs or potassium supplements can lead to dangerously high potassium levels in the blood, so such combinations should be avoided. Care is needed when taken with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as it may reduce the antihypertensive effect or worsen kidney function. During treatment, blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels should be monitored regularly for anomalies. This medication should not be taken during pregnancy, and if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately, followed by consultation with a healthcare provider. Breastfeeding women are advised to avoid this medication, and if it must be taken, breastfeeding should be stopped. Children, especially those under 6 years old or those with significantly impaired kidney function, should not use this medication. Caution is advised during driving or operating machinery as dizziness may occur. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension or bradycardia may appear, so if any symptoms occur, visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, in a safe place, and should not be transferred to other containers.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, angioedema (laryngeal/pharyngeal swelling that can cause airway obstruction, swelling of the face/lips/pharynx/tongue), severe allergic reaction, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosa pain, severe skin adverse reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, cough + abnormal breathing accompanied by fever, breathing problems.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture. It is best kept at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C, avoiding extremely hot or cold places.
