Precautions

This medication may occasionally cause allergic reactions, such as rashes or itching on the skin. If such symptoms appear, use should be discontinued immediately. This medication should not be mixed with other disinfectants, as mixing may reduce effectiveness or cause problems. When performing a urine test using a catheter cleansed with this medication, it should be noted that false positive reactions may occur in certain protein tests. If this medication gets into the eyes, it should be thoroughly rinsed with clean water for at least 15 minutes, followed by prompt appropriate treatment. If this medication is accidentally ingested, the mouth should be rinsed well with water, followed by drinking water or milk, and vomiting should not be induced; immediate appropriate treatment should be sought. This medication should be used only for topical application on the skin, and lower concentrations are recommended for inflamed or easily irritated areas. When using on deep wounds or in the eyes, injectable water or sterilized distilled water must be used, and tap water or regular distilled water should not be used. Care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the undiluted or concentrated medication with the eyes, and if contact occurs, it should be rinsed immediately with clean water. Using concentrated solutions may cause irritation to the skin or mucous membranes; hence, caution is required. Long-term or widespread use on mucous membranes, wound areas, or inflamed areas should be avoided to prevent systemic absorption leading to side effects. Using this medication with soap may reduce its sterilizing effect, so soap must be thoroughly rinsed off before application. When immersing metal instruments in this medication for extended periods, it is advisable to add sodium nitrite to prevent corrosion; however, copper products should not be soaked for long periods due to the lack of corrosion prevention. During storage, this medication may undergo slight changes in color or concentration and may become cloudy if stored in a cold place, but its sterilizing effect is not affected. If it becomes cloudy, warming it will restore transparency.
