Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with an allergy to this drug or any of its components, hypersensitivity to sulfonamide medications, severe liver dysfunction, or severe kidney dysfunction should not take this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function or electrolyte imbalances should use this medication cautiously, and especially those with hypokalemia or hyponatremia should have their electrolyte status monitored regularly with blood tests. This medication lowers blood pressure, which may cause dizziness or hypotension upon the first dose. If such symptoms occur, patients should notify their healthcare provider and take care. It is advisable not to take this medication with potassium supplements or potassium-containing salts, and it's important to monitor potassium levels regularly during treatment. The hydrochlorothiazide component may cause sensitivity to sunlight, increasing the risk of skin cancer, so precautions against UV exposure and skin protection should be emphasized during treatment. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur, which requires caution when driving or operating machinery. Interactions with other drugs may occur, so patients, especially those taking lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), potassium-sparing diuretics, or diabetes medications, must consult with their doctor. Overdose may result in symptoms such as hypotension, electrolyte abnormalities, and muscle cramps, so immediate medical attention should be sought. Children, pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid using this medication as its safety has not been established. This medication should be stored in a tight container away from moisture and direct sunlight, and it is safest to keep it in its original container.
