This medication is used for patients who require concurrent use of amlodipine and atorvastatin. Amlodipine treats ischemic heart disease due to coronary artery disease, including hypertension and stable angina, and helps reduce the risk of hospitalization due to angina and the risk of coronary revascularization in patients without heart failure and with normal cardiac output. Atorvastatin is used in patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, revascularization, and angina, and to improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia or dyslipidemia. It is also effective in treating hyperlipidemia not controlled by diet and heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. The two components work together to provide significant benefits in the treatment of cardiovascular disease and dyslipidemia.
