This medication is used to treat myocardial ischemia caused by hypertension and stable or variant angina. It also reduces the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients with established coronary artery disease confirmed by angiography, who have no heart failure or have a cardiac output of more than 40%. Furthermore, it also reduces the risks associated with coronary revascularization. Therefore, this drug is effectively used to improve symptoms of cardiovascular diseases and prevent the occurrence of complications.

How to take

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. It must not be administered to those with allergies or hypersensitivity to this drug or similar medications, nursing mothers, patients with severe liver dysfunction, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and patients in shock. Caution is advised for certain populations. Patients with severe hypotension, those requiring kidney dialysis, the elderly, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should be careful when using this medication. Several side effects may occur while taking this medication. The most common side effects include facial flushing, fatigue, swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea. Rarely, various adverse reactions may occur, such as excessively low blood pressure, vasculitis, neurological symptoms, erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia, dyspepsia, weight changes, insomnia, skin rashes, and others. Patients with heart failure or significantly impaired liver function should be particularly careful when taking this medication. Additionally, as this drug lowers blood pressure gradually, it may not be effective immediately in emergencies such as acute angina. There is no known specific effect of this medication on driving or operating machinery. This drug may interact with other medications, so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals of any concurrent medications. Notably, taking this medication with grapefruit juice may excessively amplify its blood pressure-lowering effect, so it is advisable to avoid this combination. Pregnant or nursing women need to exercise caution when taking this drug, and if possible, it is recommended to switch to another safer medication. While some dosage levels may have blood pressure-lowering effects in pediatric patients, safety and efficacy have not been established in children under six years of age. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension and reflex tachycardia may occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought for appropriate treatment. Long-term use of this medication has not confirmed any carcinogenic or genotoxic risks.
