Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (reflux esophagitis, symptoms) and treatment of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcer, relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, maintenance therapy effect for prevention of rebleeding.
This medicine is used for the treatment and prevention of gastroesophageal reflux disease, reflux esophagitis, and recurrence prevention. It also helps with the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It is effective for the treatment of gastric ulcers and prevention of recurrence related to the relief of upper gastrointestinal symptoms caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and is utilized for maintenance therapy to prevent bleeding due to gastric or duodenal ulcers. Overall, it is a medicine that helps treat and prevent various symptoms and diseases related to gastrointestinal disorders.
This medicine should be swallowed with liquid, such as water, and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of reflux esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - If esophagitis is not resolved or symptoms persist, continue for another 4 weeks. - Long-term maintenance therapy for recurrence prevention in patients with esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: · 20 mg once daily. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks, further evaluation is required. · Once symptoms are relieved, administer 20 mg once daily to control recurring symptoms. · In adults, 20 mg can be administered once daily as needed. It is not recommended to administer as needed to patients at high risk for gastric and duodenal ulcers related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug administration.
Adolescents aged 12 and older 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of reflux esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - If esophagitis is not resolved or symptoms persist, continue for an additional 4 weeks.
This medicine should not be used in certain patients. For example, those who are allergic to this medicine or its ingredients, or have had hypersensitivity reactions to similar classes of drugs should not take it. Additionally, patients taking certain antibiotics or antivirals, those with heart-related diseases, or those who are breastfeeding should avoid this medicine. This medicine contains Yellow No. 5 dye, so those with allergies or hypersensitivity to this ingredient should take caution when using it. Various adverse reactions may occur during use, and if there are changes in physical condition such as headaches, dizziness, abdominal pain, rash, muscle pain, or blood disorder symptoms, immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary. In particular, if muscle pain or weakness worsens, it may indicate a serious side effect called rhabdomyolysis, so careful observation is required. This medicine inhibits gastric acid secretion to help treat gastrointestinal diseases, but long-term use may increase the risk of infection due to bacterial overgrowth in the stomach. Additionally, long-term use for more than a year may increase the risk of fractures; therefore, regular monitoring of patients at risk for osteoporosis is recommended. This medicine can interact with other medications, so dosage adjustments are necessary especially when taken with anticoagulants, antibiotics, antivirals, antiepileptics, etc. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult with a doctor regarding the use of this medication, and it is safest not to take it while breastfeeding. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so if symptoms occur, immediate hospital visit for appropriate treatment is required. Finally, keep this medicine out of reach of children, and do not transfer it to another container for safe storage.
Hives, severe swelling (angioedema, edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, anaphylactic reaction/shock, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosal pain, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough + fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), generalized malaise.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medicine should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air and moisture from entering, and should be kept at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees. Storing it this way can help maintain the medicine's effectiveness for a longer time.
