This drug is used for the long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), especially for the treatment and prevention of erosive reflux esophagitis. It is also effective in the treatment and prevention of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers with Helicobacter pylori infection. It provides short-term relief of upper gastrointestinal symptoms caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and helps with the treatment and prevention of related gastric ulcers. It is also used as maintenance therapy for Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and to prevent rebleeding of gastric or duodenal ulcers. Precautions
