Amlodipine or Olmesartan Medoxomil is used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled in patients with essential hypertension. These medications help to maintain stable blood pressure by dilating blood vessels or lowering blood pressure. Regular use can effectively reduce the cardiovascular risks associated with hypertension and protect health. Therefore, it is used for the management of essential hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily, one tablet, with or without food. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended dosages are as follows. - 5/20 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on monotherapy with Amlodipine 5 mg or Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg. - 10/20 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and neonate if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the active ingredient or similar components, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe liver impairment, severe aortic stenosis, biliary obstruction, patients on renal dialysis, patients in shock, specific diabetic patients, and patients with moderate or severe renal impairment should not take this medication. When administering this drug to patients with depleted fluids or electrolytes, signs of low blood pressure may occur, so careful monitoring of their condition is necessary, and appropriate measures should be taken if low blood pressure occurs. Since this medication can lower blood pressure by dilating blood vessels, it should be used with caution in patients with severe aortic stenosis, obstructive coronary artery disease, and congestive heart failure. In patients with impaired kidney function, regular monitoring of renal function is required since this medication can affect kidney function. This drug is metabolized in the liver, so it should be used cautiously in patients with severe liver impairment, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. During the course of taking this drug, side effects such as dizziness, headache, hypotension, edema, indigestion, rash, etc., may occur, and patients should consult medical personnel if any abnormal symptoms appear. Particularly, during treatment with this drug, potassium levels in the blood may increase, so when combined with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, it is advisable to frequently check potassium levels in the blood. Taking this drug with grapefruit juice may enhance its blood pressure-lowering effects; therefore, it is advisable to avoid grapefruit juice consumption. This drug should not be used during pregnancy, and if planning to conceive, it is recommended to switch to a safer alternative treatment. Breastfeeding women should either stop breastfeeding or discontinue this medication because it can be passed into breast milk. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established for children under 18 years of age, and it is not recommended for use in this population. In elderly patients, dosage should be adjusted carefully considering impaired liver, kidney, or heart function and accompanying diseases, and it is safer to start treatment at lower doses. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, increased heart rate, and peripheral vessel dilation may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored in a closed container away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight, and should be kept out of reach of children; transferring to another container should be avoided.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, dyspnea, severe allergic reactions, severe skin reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output.
