Precautions

This medication should not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, or by breastfeeding women. It should not be administered to patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation, as it may stimulate gastrointestinal motility and pose a risk. Patients with certain tumors such as pheochromocytoma should not use this medication, as it may cause hypertension. Patients who have an allergy or intolerance to this medication should not be treated with it. It should be avoided in patients with epilepsy, manic episodes, or those in the manic phase of bipolar disorder, as it can exacerbate symptoms. Patients with breast-related diseases should also be cautious, as this medication can increase prolactin secretion and cause problems. This medication contains lactose and should not be given to patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders. Hypertensive patients, children, and the elderly should use this medication with caution, especially as children may show extrapyramidal symptoms more easily, necessitating dosage adjustments. During treatment with this medication, hormonal abnormalities such as amenorrhea, increased galactorrhea, and gynecomastia may occur, and treatment should be immediately stopped if such symptoms arise. Neurological symptoms such as tremors, tongue twisting, and agitation may occur rarely; if these symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued. Long-term use may lead to involuntary movements, which can persist even after the medication is stopped, so caution is advised. Digestive symptoms such as thirst, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation may also occur. Monitoring for cardiac-related adverse reactions such as hypertension or arrhythmia is important. While using this medication, serious neuroleptic malignant syndrome symptoms such as high fever, muscle rigidity, and altered consciousness may develop; immediate medical attention is required if these symptoms occur. There may be rare occurrences of skin rash or edema, and the medication should be discontinued if these symptoms are observed. This medication can cause drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, and lethargy, so caution is necessary. It is advisable to avoid activities requiring concentration, such as driving or operating machinery during treatment. Additionally, this medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to consult with a doctor or pharmacist regarding concurrent medications. Particularly, when used with drugs that can affect the heart, the risk of arrhythmia may increase, necessitating caution. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use this medication, and elderly patients may need dosage and intervals adjustments due to decreased renal function, as the drug may remain in the body for an extended period. While this medication can help relieve vomiting, it should be used cautiously in cases of vomiting due to other serious conditions. Lastly, animal studies have reported that this medication may affect reproductive function and tumor incidence, so long-term use requires caution.
