Precautions

This medication should not be used by anyone who is allergic to this drug or its components. It is also unsafe to administer to patients with unexplained rectal bleeding or those in severe dehydration. It should not be used in patients at risk of drug reflux, such as those with conditions that make swallowing difficult or those who must remain lying down. In cases of impaired bowel function or acute abdominal conditions, it should be avoided in patients with bowel obstruction or strictures, as it may worsen symptoms. Patients with hypercalcemia or renal stones, as well as those with severe renal failure, should not take this medication. Patients with severe abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting also require caution. Patients who need to limit calcium intake or who are taking active forms of vitamin D should use this drug carefully due to the risk of hypercalcemia. Those taking cardiac glycosides should be aware that this drug may enhance the effects of cardiac glycosides and provoke arrhythmias. Patients with low stomach acid production or those who have had gastric resection may experience reduced effectiveness of this medication. Patients undergoing dialysis or those with mild renal failure should use this drug cautiously due to the risk of tissue calcification. It should be swallowed with plenty of water; taking it without water may pose risks of choking or obstruction in the throat or esophagus. If chest pain, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, or shortness of breath occurs, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a physician. This medication is intended for symptomatic relief; if symptoms do not improve after 7 days of use, consult a physician. Long-term use may lead to adverse reactions, so regular observation is necessary. When taken with other medications, it may affect absorption, so it is recommended to take it at least 2 hours apart. Caution is advised, especially when combined with certain antibiotics or active forms of vitamin D due to the risk of hypercalcemia. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this drug only when the benefits outweigh the risks, according to a physician's judgment. Safety in children has not been established, so caution is necessary for use. Elderly individuals are at higher risk for decreased kidney function and hypercalcemia and may require dose adjustments. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, in its original container, in a dry place at room temperature.
