It is important to take this medication as an adjunct to diet, alongside dietary measures such as limiting saturated fat and cholesterol intake. Moreover, it is necessary to identify and treat other diseases or medications that may cause dyslipidemia. This therapy helps reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia.

How to take

Precautions

This medication can rarely cause rhabdomyolysis, resulting in severe kidney problems due to muscle tissue damage; thus, if serious muscle pain or weakness occurs, consult a physician immediately. This medication should not be taken by specific patients, such as those with liver diseases, muscular diseases, severely impaired kidney function, pregnant women, or breastfeeding women. Caution should be exercised in those at high risk for muscle damage, such as alcoholics, patients with liver dysfunction, and the elderly, and regular blood tests are needed to monitor muscle and liver function. This drug may increase liver enzyme levels, and if symptoms of liver damage (e.g., fatigue, jaundice, abdominal pain) occur, healthcare personnel should be notified immediately. If symptoms such as muscle pain, muscle weakness, fatigue, fever occur while taking this medication, inform a doctor immediately and undergo necessary testing. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not take this drug, and if pregnancy is confirmed during treatment, it should be stopped immediately, and appropriate contraception should be used. Safety in children and adolescents has not been adequately established, so it is not recommended. Elderly patients should take caution due to the higher risk of muscle damage, and consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary if there are abnormalities in liver or kidney function. This drug contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance should not take it.
