This medication helps lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. At the same time, it also increases levels of HDL cholesterol, which is known as 'good cholesterol'. Such medications should be used together with dietary therapy, which limits saturated fats and cholesterol, and are administered when dietary management alone is insufficient. It is also important to confirm and treat other causes of dyslipidemia or underlying diseases before using this medication. Caution is especially necessary for those at high risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia, and treatment progress should be monitored with regular blood lipid level tests. This medication is effectively used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia.
