This medication is used for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, particularly heterozygous familial and non-familial, as well as mixed dyslipidemia. It helps to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels, while raising levels of good cholesterol, HDL cholesterol. It is mainly used alongside dietary changes and is administered when diet alone is insufficient. It is also suitable for patients at increased risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia. Prior to administering this drug, it is essential to check for other causes such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, and to combine treatments if necessary. Regular monitoring of lipid levels is crucial to assess treatment progress. This medication is effective for improving hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia.
