Improvement of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastric mucosal lesions (erosions, bleeding, etc.)
This medication is used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also administered to prevent Mendelson's syndrome during preoperative anesthesia, and is effective for ulcers occurring after surgery and for those caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It helps improve gastric mucosal lesions such as erosions, bleeding, redness, and swelling associated with exacerbations of acute and chronic gastritis, as well as upper gastrointestinal bleeding. This medication contributes to digestive health by protecting the gastric mucosa and improving damaged areas.
For adults, 150 mg should be administered orally twice a day, in the morning and at bedtime. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers: 150 mg should be taken orally twice daily or 300 mg once daily at bedtime. For duodenal ulcer patients, 300 mg may be taken orally twice daily, in the morning and at bedtime. For patients with recurrent ulcers, 150 mg may be given once daily at bedtime as maintenance therapy.
For children aged 8 to 18 years, a single dose of 150 mg (2 mg per kg of body weight) may be administered up to twice a day.
This medication should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of this medication or with a history of acute porphyria. Since this medication contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders. Patients with impaired kidney function may have elevated blood levels of this medication, so doses should be reduced or dosing intervals increased with caution. Patients with liver dysfunction should also be treated with caution, and individuals with a history of drug hypersensitivity or elderly individuals should be careful. When used in conjunction with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, particularly for elderly patients or those with a history of peptic ulcers, regular monitoring of their condition is advised. This medication may mask the symptoms of gastric cancer, so patients with gastric ulcers or newly appearing dyspepsia symptoms in middle-aged or older adults should confirm the malignancy before use. Patients with non-Helycobacter pylori-positive gastric and duodenal ulcers require concomitant eradication therapy. Rarely, anaphylactic shock, urticaria, angioedema, rashes, and difficulty breathing may occur as hypersensitive reactions during medication, so if unusual symptoms arise, discontinue use immediately and consult a medical professional. Abnormal laboratory findings such as liver function abnormalities, arrhythmias, gastrointestinal symptoms, and neurological and psychiatric symptoms may occur, so close observation is required. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs, it is safer to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform your healthcare provider about any concurrent medications, especially when taking anticoagulants, as blood coagulation status should be frequently monitored. Women who are pregnant or potentially pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should carefully consider the use of this medication and consult a physician if necessary. Safety for children has not been sufficiently confirmed, so caution is needed when using. Elderly individuals may have elevated drug levels due to decreased kidney function, so dosing and dosing intervals should be adjusted accordingly. Signs of overdose are rare, but appropriate treatment such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be needed, and in severe cases, blood dialysis may be considered. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided to maintain quality and safety. Long-term use may necessitate ophthalmic examinations due to affinity to ocular melanin, and caution should be taken against bacterial overgrowth due to gastric acid secretion inhibition.
