  • Blood sugar control in patients with Type 2 diabetes
View approved original text

This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with Type 2 diabetes. It supports dietary and exercise therapies and can also be administered as monotherapy. If the patient does not respond to other oral hypoglycemic agents, it can be combined with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin. Additionally, it is important for patients to engage in nutritional counseling, weight loss, and regular exercise therapy. These treatment methods can help maintain drug efficacy as well as initial treatment. This medication is used for blood sugar improvement and diabetes management.

Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes and helps control blood sugar levels by improving insulin sensitivity. Careful monitoring is advised for patients with heart failure, as symptoms may worsen. It should not be administered to patients with heart failure or a history of heart failure. During treatment, signs of heart failure such as changes in weight, shortness of breath, and edema should be closely observed; if these symptoms occur, the patient should consult a doctor immediately. Furthermore, this medication can cause fluid retention, which may exacerbate heart failure, so patients with edema should exercise particular caution. This medication should not be used in patients with active bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer; any symptoms of hematuria or urinary disturbances during treatment should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. It is also not safe for patients with compromised liver function or severe renal impairment to take this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication, and premenopausal women should use appropriate contraceptive measures, as this medication may enhance ovulation. There is an increased risk of hypoglycemia when this medication is combined with other diabetes medications, so dosage adjustments may be necessary. Regular blood sugar and liver function tests are important during treatment, and if abnormal symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a doctor is crucial. In cases of overdose, no specific symptoms may be present, but appropriate treatment should be provided based on symptoms. This medication has not been proven safe or effective for children, and caution should be used when administering it to the elderly. Finally, this medication should be stored in its original container and kept out of reach of children.
