This medicine is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 60 mg orally once daily as Raloxifene Hydrochloride.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of developing blood clots in the bloodstream; therefore, patients at risk of thrombosis should use it with caution. If immobility occurs for an extended period, the medication should be discontinued and may be resumed once the condition improves. It is not recommended for patients with poor liver function as the drug is primarily processed in the liver, and liver function tests should be periodically monitored. It is not suitable for premenopausal women, and pregnant women or those who may become pregnant and nursing mothers should not take this medication. Caution is required in postmenopausal women at high risk of cardiovascular disease, and it should not be used for cardiovascular prevention. The combined use of this drug with estrogen is not recommended as safety has not been established. If uterine bleeding occurs during treatment, consult a healthcare professional immediately, and patients with a history of breast cancer should discuss with their doctor before taking this medication. Additionally, while this medication is used for the treatment of osteoporosis, it should not be administered to males or children. In cases of overdose, leg cramps or dizziness may occur, so caution is advised, and there is no specific antidote. This drug has minimal interactions with other medications, but periodic monitoring of blood clotting tests is required when used in conjunction with certain drugs. When storing, keep it in a secure place out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container. It is advisable to supplement calcium and vitamin D if deficiencies are noted during treatment and to improve smoking and drinking habits. The effect on driving or operating machinery is not known.

Venous thromboembolism, including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, retinal vein thrombosis, superficial vein thrombophlebitis, thrombocytopenia, increased blood pressure, stroke, arterial thromboembolism, retinal vein occlusion, and death related to venous thromboembolism.

Mild side effects

Vasodilation (flushing), leg cramps, cold symptoms, peripheral edema, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, migraine, rash, breast symptoms (pain, swelling, tenderness), vaginal bleeding, facial edema, heartburn, constipation, itching, palpitations, fever, weakness, sweating, myalgia, insomnia, perineal pain, weight gain, arthritis, rheumatic-like symptoms, pain, fatigue, discomfort, chest pain, skin lesions, anxiety, weight loss, seizures,

Storage

This medicine should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air from entering and kept at a relatively warm indoor temperature between 15 to 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way helps maintain its effectiveness and prevent degradation.
