Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.
Treatment should be initiated only by a physician experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's dementia, and the initiation should only occur if a caregiver can periodically confirm the patient's medication adherence. This medication can be taken regardless of food intake. Dosage increase method: - First week (Day 1-7): Administer 5mg once daily for 7 days. - Second week (Day 8-14): Administer 10mg once daily (5mg twice daily) for 7 days.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to its components, patients with severely impaired liver function, and patients with significantly reduced kidney function. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, and patients with genetic disorders that prevent lactose digestion should not take it. Patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, as well as those at high risk for seizures, must use this medication with caution. If taken with certain other medications, side effects may increase or persist, so it should not be used with NMDA antagonist class medications. Patients with dietary changes that affect urine acidity or specific diseases should be cautious, and the safety of this medication has not been adequately confirmed in patients with heart disease or uncontrolled hypertension. Taking this medication may cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension, and in rare cases, hallucinations or psychotic symptoms have been reported. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if taking any other medications, they must inform their healthcare provider, especially when combined with anticoagulants or certain gastrointestinal medications. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of taking this medication, and breastfeeding should be discontinued while taking it. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been adequately confirmed in children and adolescents under the age of 18. In case of overdose, serious symptoms such as coma, hallucinations, and seizures may occur, so immediate emergency treatment is required, and since there is no specific antidote, symptomatic treatment is necessary. This medication may affect the central nervous system, so caution is required when driving or operating machinery. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container is important for safety and maintaining quality.
