Mofesia Tablets (Finasteride)

Adult dose

Typically, finasteride is administered orally at a dose of 1 mg once daily, and it can be taken irrespective of meals. Generally, treatment effects may be observed after taking the medication for more than 3 months, and it is recommended to continue taking it to maintain the treatment effect. The treatment period and efficacy should be continuously evaluated. If discontinued, treatment effects will diminish within 12 months.

This medication should not be used by children or women. Especially, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should avoid handling broken pieces of this medication, as exposure may pose a risk to male fetuses. This medication may cause mental health issues such as mood changes, depression, and in severe cases, suicidal thoughts, so if these symptoms occur, take the medication off immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Pregnant women should absolutely not take this medication as it may cause abnormalities in the reproductive organs of male fetuses, and patients with hypersensitivity to this drug, lactose intolerance, soybean oil, beans, or peanut allergies should also avoid use. Patients with liver function problems or lipid metabolism disorders should use this medication with caution, and those with lipid overload should regularly check their blood lipid levels. During treatment, sexual dysfunction such as decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculation disorders may occur, but most of these side effects recover after discontinuation of the medication. Long-term use has been reported to cause gynecomastia or breast tenderness, and rarely, male breast cancer, so patients should inform their doctor immediately if there are any abnormal symptoms in the breasts. Additionally, this medication may increase the risk of high-grade prostate cancer, so men over 55 should undergo regular prostate examinations. There are very few significant interactions with other medications, but it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional if taking other medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, and safety in pediatric patients has not been established. For elderly patients aged 65 and over, dosage adjustments are not needed, but caution should be exercised as the effectiveness of this medication has not been sufficiently proven. While on this medication, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels may decrease in blood tests, so this should be considered when interpreting test results. There is no specific treatment for overdose, and it is important to keep this medication out of reach of children and not to transfer it to other containers.

This medication is sensitive to air and moisture, so it should be stored in a tightly closed container. The storage temperature should be maintained between 15 degrees and 30 degrees. This will help preserve the effectiveness of the medication.
