This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially for the long-term maintenance treatment to prevent recurrence in patients with erosive reflux esophagitis. It is also helpful in relieving symptoms in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used in combination with antibiotics for the treatment and prevention of recurrence in patients with Helicobacter pylori positive duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers. It is effective for the treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms or gastric ulcers resulting from the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and also for the prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers. This medication is utilized for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and in maintaining therapy to prevent gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer re-bleeding. It is used broadly for various gastrointestinal disorders.
