Treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, alleviation of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, and improvement of gastrointestinal disorders
This medication is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal ulcers such as gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer. Additionally, it alleviates the symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease and helps maintain long-term management. It is effectively used in combination with antibiotics for patients with gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori. It is also used for diseases associated with excessive gastric acid secretion, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is effective in improving and treating symptoms of various gastrointestinal disorders.
Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: 10mg orally once daily, can be increased to 20mg once daily depending on symptoms. Treat for 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10mg or 20mg orally once daily for 4 to 8 weeks; if not treated after 8 weeks, 10mg or 20mg orally twice daily can be added for 8 weeks.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to specific components or have a history of hypersensitivity reactions. Furthermore, it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Caution is required when using in patients with decreased liver function or the elderly, and careful administration is necessary for patients with a history of allergic reactions. This medication may cause allergic symptoms such as skin rash, itching, and hives; if such symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately. Regular blood tests are necessary as red and white blood cell counts may change. Liver function tests should also be performed periodically as liver dysfunction may occur, and if symptoms of hepatitis or jaundice appear, consult a physician immediately. Caution is needed in patients with heart disease as it may affect the heart and blood vessels, and gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea may occur. Neurological side effects such as headaches, dizziness, and insomnia may occur; report severe symptoms to a physician. Respiratory symptoms such as cough or difficulty breathing may appear, and muscle or joint pain has also been reported. Severe skin reactions can occur; therefore, if symptoms such as rash or hair loss appear, discontinue use immediately. Abnormalities related to the eyes may also occur, so if there are changes in vision, visit a hospital. This medication may also affect the kidneys, so caution is required if there are abnormalities in urination or hematuria. Prolonged use may increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, so follow a physician's instructions in long-term use. Magnesium levels may decrease, so when used long-term or in combination with certain medications, it is important to regularly check serum magnesium levels. This medication reduces gastric acid secretion, which may increase the risk of certain bacterial infections; consult healthcare professionals if diarrhea persists during long-term use. Caution is advised while driving or operating machinery as drowsiness may occur. This medication may interact with other medications, so consult a physician, especially when taken with antibiotics, anticoagulants, and antiviral drugs. It should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and the elderly are at higher risk of adverse effects due to liver function decline; caution is advised. Safety in children has not been established, so it is preferable not to use. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote available, and appropriate treatment should be given based on symptoms. This medication should be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed, and it should be stored out of reach of children. If used long-term, regular check-ups and strict adherence to a physician's instructions are required.
