Precautions

This medicine should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this medicine or its ingredients, or who have previously shown allergic reactions to similar medications, should not use this medicine. Additionally, patients allergic to penicillin-based or macrolide antibiotics should avoid concomitant use of this medication during Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy. Patients taking certain cardiac-related medications or those with a history of myocardial infarction should also refrain from using this medicine. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid this medication as it is uncertain whether it is transmitted through breast milk. This medicine contains lactose and should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders. While taking this medication, various adverse reactions may occur. Common symptoms include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and nausea, while rare cases have reported decrease in blood cell counts, allergic reactions, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, and myalgia. In particular, long-term use may lead to electrolyte abnormalities such as hypomagnesemia, so regular monitoring is necessary. Also, as this medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, there may be an increased risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract, and hospitalized patients may have an increased risk of diarrhea due to Clostridium difficile infection. There is a high potential for this medicine to interact with other medications, so caution is required during concomitant therapy. For example, drug concentrations may vary when taken with certain antivirals, anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, and antidepressants, so follow your doctor's instructions. During pregnancy, no significant issues have been found in animal studies, but it should be administered with caution in pregnant women, and it is safest to avoid during breastfeeding. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so treatment should focus on symptomatic management and general care, as this medication is not removed by dialysis. Finally, this medicine should be kept out of the reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to another container as it may adversely affect quality.
