Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who have had allergic reactions to this medication or other piroxicam preparations in the past. It should not be administered to individuals with specific asthma conditions known as aspirin-induced asthma or related medical history, as it can provoke severe asthma attacks. Individuals who experienced allergic reactions such as hives, nasal inflammation, or angioedema after using aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not use this medication. It is not used in children under 14 years of age as safety has not been established. Caution should be exercised in patients with bronchial asthma, as there is a risk of severe asthma attacks. Skin reactions, including itching, redness, rashes, scaling, eczema, dermatitis, contact dermatitis, red spots, and, rarely, photosensitivity, may occur, and if severe symptoms arise, discontinuation of the medication is necessary. Long-term or excessive use may lead to systemic side effects such as nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, breathing difficulties, and kidney dysfunction, thus caution is warranted. This medication does not treat the underlying causes of inflammation or pain but helps alleviate symptoms. When using on an area with a skin infection, appropriate antibiotics or antifungals should be used to prevent worsening of the infection, and the condition should be closely monitored. When using for chronic conditions like degenerative arthritis, other treatment methods should also be considered along with medication, and care should be taken to monitor for side effects. During the last three months of pregnancy, this medication should not be used as it may cause delayed labor, bleeding during delivery, and heart and kidney problems in newborns. In the early and mid-stages of pregnancy, while there were no significant effects observed in animal studies, caution is necessary due to the lack of adequate studies regarding its use during pregnancy. As some components of this medication may pass into breast milk, it is advisable for breastfeeding women to refrain from use. Safety has not been established in premature infants, newborns, infants, and children, so use should be avoided. In elderly patients, there is a higher risk of side effects, so it should be used cautiously at the minimum effective dose. This medication should not be applied to areas with hemorrhagic disorders, eczema, infection sites, burns, or wounds, nor on eyes and mucous membranes. The occlusive bandage method should not be used when applying this medication, and care should be taken as it may cause temporary irritation when applied to damaged skin.
