Precautions

This medication should not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and by breastfeeding women. Patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation should not take this medication, as it may stimulate gastrointestinal motility and worsen symptoms. Caution is needed in specific tumor patients as this medication may raise blood pressure. It should not be administered to patients with allergic reactions or intolerances to this medication. Patients with epilepsy, patients in a manic phase of bipolar disorder, and other conditions may experience worsening symptoms and should not use this medication. Patients with breast diseases should be cautious as this medication may affect hormone secretion, potentially leading to breast-related issues. Patients with lactose intolerance or certain hereditary metabolic disorders should not take this medication due to the lactose included in it. This medication should be used carefully in hypertensive patients, children, and the elderly, especially since children are at risk for extrapyramidal symptoms and should have their dosage adjusted. This medication may lead to side effects such as amenorrhea, excessive milk secretion, or gynecomastia due to hormonal imbalance, and use must be stopped immediately if symptoms occur. Rarely, symptoms such as tremors, tongue movement abnormalities, or anxiety may arise, and treatment should be discontinued if these symptoms appear. Prolonged use may lead to involuntary movements around the mouth, which may persist even after stopping the medication. Gastrointestinal side effects such as dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation can occur. Cardiac side effects such as hypertension or arrhythmia may occur, so caution is advised. Rarely, a serious side effect known as Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome may occur, characterized by high fever, muscle rigidity, and altered consciousness; immediate discontinuation of the medication and treatment is required. If skin rashes or swelling occur, use should be stopped, and sometimes symptoms like flushing, lethargy, insomnia, drowsiness, dizziness, and erectile dysfunction may appear. It is recommended to avoid activities requiring attention, such as driving or operating machinery while taking this medication. Concurrent use with medications that pose a risk of cardiac arrhythmias may increase the risk of side effects, necessitating careful monitoring. During co-administration with certain drugs, unexpected side effects may emerge, so consultation with healthcare providers is necessary, and it should not be taken with alcohol. Use during pregnancy may pose risks to the fetus, thus women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not use this medication. Elderly patients may experience increased drug concentration due to renal function decline, so dosage and intervals should be adjusted, paying close attention to the occurrence of side effects. This medication suppresses vomiting and may conceal or worsen vomiting symptoms caused by other factors, thus symptoms should be monitored closely. Long-term use at high doses may have effects on the reproductive organs, so caution is necessary.
