How to take

Losartan Potassium 50 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg starts with one tablet once a day. If blood pressure is not controlled after 3 weeks of administration, the dose may be increased to a maximum of Losartan Potassium 100 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg once a day. There are detailed descriptions of dosage adjustment methods for other cases, but all pertain to adults. Patients with renal impairment should have a creatinine clearance of at least 30 mL/min.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with a known allergy to this medication or its components, severely impaired renal function, those undergoing dialysis, patients with severe liver disease, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication. Patients with symptoms of hypotension or issues related to kidney or liver function, as well as those with diabetes or gout, should use this medication cautiously, and particular care is required for the elderly. As this medication lowers blood pressure, dizziness or drowsiness may occur at the beginning of treatment or when increasing the dose, necessitating caution while driving or operating machinery. Electrolyte levels in the blood should be monitored periodically during treatment, and caution is needed to prevent potassium levels from becoming too high or too low. During treatment, potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium should not be taken without consulting a doctor. Due to the hydrochlorothiazide component, the skin may become sensitive to sunlight, so protection from UV rays is necessary, and any abnormal skin lesions should be reported to a doctor immediately. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive drugs or specific medications, so patients must inform their doctor or pharmacist of any other medications they are taking. Dehydration or electrolyte imbalance symptoms may occur during treatment, so if severe vomiting, diarrhea, or sweating occurs, a doctor should be consulted. This medication is not administered to children and adolescents as safety and efficacy have not been established. In case of overdose, hypotension or cardiac arrhythmias may occur, so immediate contact with a medical institution is necessary, and appropriate treatment should be administered if needed. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in its original container to maintain its quality.
