Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive esophagitis), treatment and prevention of relapse of peptic ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori, relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, prevention of rebleeding of gastric ulcers, and maintenance therapy effects.
This drug is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis and is helpful for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in esophagitis patients. It is also effective in alleviating symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used in combination therapy with antibiotics for the treatment of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori infection and contributes to prevention of recurrence. It is used for short-term relief of upper gastrointestinal pain or discomfort that may occur with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use. It is also used for the treatment of gastric ulcers and prevention of ulcers in patients undergoing continuous non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug therapy, and it is effective in treating Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Finally, it is also used in maintenance therapy after prevention of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. This drug is widely used for the treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal diseases.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - If necessary, 20 mg once daily can be administered.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 1 dose daily.
This drug should not be used in certain patients. It should not be administered if there is an allergy to this drug or its ingredients, or to specific antibiotics. Additionally, patients taking certain heart-related medications or antivirals, nursing mothers, and patients with a history of myocardial infarction should not use this drug. This drug can cause various side effects. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur frequently, and rarely symptoms such as blood abnormalities, allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, and skin rashes have also been reported. Severe skin reactions or muscle-related abnormal symptoms may occur, so if such symptoms appear, immediate consultation with a physician should be sought. Long-term use of this drug can lead to electrolyte imbalances such as hypomagnesemia, thus regular monitoring is necessary. Moreover, since this drug reduces gastric acid, it may increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract; hence if diarrhea persists for long periods, a specialist should be notified. This drug may have interactions with other medications, so particularly if taking anticoagulants, antibiotics, antivirals, or anticonvulsants, consultation with a physician or pharmacist is essential. The safety of this drug during pregnancy has not been fully established, so caution is advised, and it is better not to take this medication while nursing. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be symptomatic, and it should be kept out of reach of children.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions, shock, bronchospasm, jaundice, hepatitis, liver failure, encephalopathy, mucocutaneous syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), muscle weakness, interstitial nephritis, serious skin adverse reactions including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis.
Headache, dizziness, paresthesia, drowsiness, taste disturbances, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, agitation, mental confusion, depression, aggression, hallucinations, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, dry mouth, stomatitis, increased liver enzymes, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, fractures, arthralgia, myalgia, interstitial nephritis, gynecomastia, weakness, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile infection-associated diarrhea, allergic reactions, chest pain, facial swelling.

This drug must be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. It is critical to maintain a storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius to preserve the drug's effectiveness and safety.
