This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of erosive reflux esophagitis. It is also effective for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It is used for the short-term treatment of upper gastrointestinal symptoms associated with the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and for the treatment and prevention of related gastric and duodenal ulcers. It can be applied for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. Overall, it is widely used for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases.
