This medication is used for painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as cervical shoulder syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and lower back pain. It is also effective in treating spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders. This includes various cerebrospinal diseases, such as cerebrovascular accidents, spastic spinal paralysis, spondylosis, postoperative sequelae, trauma sequelae, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and spinocerebellar degeneration. This medication helps to relieve muscle stiffness and pain, thereby improving patient movement. Therefore, it is actively used for muscle stiffness and pain relief.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 50 mg of eperisone hydrochloride orally three times a day after meals. The dosage may be adjusted according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, it should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or those with myasthenia gravis. Additionally, because this medication contains lactose, it should also not be given to patients with genetic disorders that impair lactose digestion. When administering this medication, it should be used with caution in patients with a history of drug allergies or liver dysfunction. Patients should be particularly careful as liver function may worsen. This medication can rarely cause serious side effects, so symptoms should be carefully observed. For example, symptoms of shock may appear, and if such symptoms occur, administration should be immediately discontinued and appropriate treatment should be sought. Other rare issues related to liver or kidney function, as well as blood-related problems like anemia, may also occur. Various side effects such as skin rash, itching, insomnia, drowsiness, headache, indigestion, lower back pain, weakness, etc., may appear. Especially if severe skin abnormalities, eye redness, or stomatitis occur, usage should be immediately discontinued. During the course of taking this medication, symptoms such as weakness, staggering, and drowsiness may occur, and if these symptoms occur, the dosage should be reduced or the medication should be discontinued. Additionally, since drowsiness and decreased concentration may occur, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Caution should be taken when used in conjunction with similar medications or certain muscle relaxants, as side effects may occur. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should be cautious, as the safety of this medication is not assured; it should only be used when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. Nursing mothers should avoid this medication if possible, and if it must be used, breastfeeding should be discontinued. For children, the safety of this medication has not been thoroughly established, so caution is warranted for use. Finally, elderly patients may have decreased bodily functions, so they should either reduce the dosage or use the medication with special caution.
