Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and should not be used by patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria. Aspartame is broken down into phenylalanine in the body, so these patients should limit this substance. In addition, aspartame's daily allowable intake should be adjusted to below the World Health Organization recommended levels to use as little as possible. This medication should not be administered to individuals with allergies or hypersensitivity to specific components, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, and children under 2 years of age. Furthermore, this medication contains lactose and should not be taken by patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. While using this medication, it should not be taken with certain other medications. For example, theophylline can interfere with the metabolism of this medication, while cimetidine, praziquantel, and dexamethasone can increase its blood concentration. Conversely, ritonavir, phenytoin, carbamazepine, and phenobarbital can decrease its blood concentration, so caution is needed. Patients with liver or kidney function problems should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. Additionally, this medication contains a pigment called Yellow No. 5, and individuals allergic or hypersensitive to this component should use it cautiously. If symptoms such as red spots on the skin, severe rash, itching, or hives occur while taking this medication, it should be stopped immediately and a healthcare professional consulted. Nausea, vomiting, heartburn, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and dizziness may also occur, and if these symptoms are severe, one should consult a professional. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as fever or systemic skin flushing have been reported, and temporary hair loss may occur. Women who may become pregnant should check their pregnancy status before using this medication and be cautious not to use it during early pregnancy. Taking this medication during pregnancy can harm the fetus, so effective contraceptive methods should be used during the treatment period and for 3 days after the last dose. This medication can affect blood test results, potentially decreasing white blood cell counts or increasing liver enzyme levels. Regular tests may be necessary due to these possible changes. In case of overdose, treatment will depend on the symptoms and general supportive care will be necessary. After taking this medication, as the intra-cerebral parasites die, inflammatory responses may develop causing neurological symptoms such as seizures or headaches; if these symptoms occur, consult healthcare professionals immediately. Finally, this medication should be stored out of the reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place. Additionally, to maintain quality, do not transfer it to another container, and avoid misuses or abuses.
