Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive reflux esophagitis), eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection (duodenal ulcer), and relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medicine is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of erosive reflux esophagitis, and relief of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is also effective for the treatment and prevention of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers as part of an antibiotic regimen for Helicobacter pylori eradication. It is used short-term in the treatment of upper gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and is applicable for the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers. Furthermore, it is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and the prevention and maintenance therapy of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. It helps improve various gastrointestinal diseases and ulcer-related symptoms.
This medication should be swallowed with liquid, such as water, without chewing or crushing. 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - If symptoms persist, an additional 4 weeks of treatment - Long-term maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence: 20 mg once daily - Symptom relief for gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily - If necessary, 20 mg once daily.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - If symptoms persist, an additional 4 weeks of treatment - Symptom relief for gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis.
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this drug or its components, those who have had hypersensitivity reactions to benzimidazoles in the past, patients allergic to penicillins or macrolide antibiotics, patients taking specific heart-related medications, women who are breastfeeding, and patients with a history of myocardial infarction should not use this medication. Caution is required as various adverse reactions may occur during the use of this medication. Common side effects may include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, and nausea, while rare but serious side effects such as blood abnormalities, hypersensitivity reactions, hypomagnesemia, mental confusion, liver function abnormalities, and skin rashes have also been reported. If symptoms like muscle pain or weakness appear, consult a healthcare professional immediately. Regular check-ups are necessary for long-term use of this medication, and if symptoms suggesting a malignant tumor arise, a doctor's diagnosis must be obtained. Additionally, as the medication lowers gastric acidity, it may increase the risk of certain bacterial infections, so inform a healthcare provider if diarrhea persists. This medication interacts with many other drugs, so be sure to inform your physician or pharmacist if you are taking any other medications. Caution is especially necessary when combined with antiviral agents, anticoagulants, or anticonvulsants, as the effects of some medications may change. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been fully established, so it should only be taken as per a physician's judgment when absolutely necessary, and its use should be avoided while breastfeeding. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so seek appropriate treatment at a medical institution immediately, and it is important to provide symptomatic treatment as the drug cannot be removed by dialysis. Finally, this medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and care must be taken to avoid transferring it to another container as this may compromise its quality.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions/shock, jaundice, liver failure, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (toxic epidermal necrolysis), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), sudden and severe headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, severe swelling throughout the body, severe edema, interstitial nephritis, Clostridium difficile infection.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. It is advisable to maintain the storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
