View approved original text

Essential hypertension is a condition used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy using amlodipine or valsartan. This medication effectively lowers blood pressure and helps protect vascular and heart health. It is used to reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular diseases through appropriate blood pressure management.

Adult dose

The recommended dosage is one tablet taken once daily, with water, regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time every day (e.g., morning) if possible.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients with known allergies to any ingredients in this medication, in pregnant or breastfeeding women, or in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. Patients with sodium or fluid depletion may experience hypotension, so they should carefully check their condition before taking this medication and monitor their blood pressure and symptoms during treatment. Patients with high serum potassium levels or taking potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, etc., should have their potassium levels checked regularly. Patients with kidney issues, kidney transplant recipients, and those with a history of angioedema require special caution when taking this medication, and it should be stopped immediately if symptoms of angioedema appear. Patients with heart failure or those after a myocardial infarction may experience changes in kidney function while taking this medication, so regular monitoring of kidney function is necessary. This medication may increase the risk of hypotension, renal impairment, and hyperkalemia when used in conjunction with other antihypertensive agents, so it should be taken according to a doctor's instructions, and regular blood pressure and blood tests are required. Caution is advised while driving or operating machinery, as dizziness or fatigue may occur. Overdose can cause hypotension or cardiac problems, so the prescribed dosage must be adhered to, and immediate consultation with medical personnel is required if any abnormal symptoms occur. It is not recommended for children as safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established in pediatric patients.
