Treatment and prevention of recurrence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (such as erosive esophagitis), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcers, and relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medication is used as maintenance therapy for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of erosive esophagitis related to gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also utilized in antibiotic combination therapy for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. Furthermore, it is effective not only for treating upper gastrointestinal symptoms that arise from the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs but also for treating gastric ulcers and preventing ulcers in patients receiving long-term non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug treatment. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for preventive maintenance therapy against rebleeding in gastric and duodenal ulcers. Collectively, it improves various ulcer and inflammatory symptoms related to gastrointestinal diseases.
This medication should be swallowed with liquid, such as water, and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If not treated or symptoms persist, an additional 4 weeks of treatment. - Long-term maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence: Administer 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: Administer once daily.
Adolescents aged 12 and older - Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If not treated or symptoms persist, an additional 4 weeks of treatment.
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. Patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to this drug or its components should not use it. Additionally, patients taking certain antibiotics or antiviral agents, nursing mothers, and patients with a history of myocardial infarction should not use this medication. This medication contains the dye Yellow No. 4, and patients allergic or sensitive to this ingredient should use it carefully. Various adverse reactions may occur with this medication. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headaches, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting are common, and occasionally neurological symptoms such as insomnia, dizziness, and mental confusion may also occur. Rarely, serious side effects such as blood abnormalities, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, and myalgia have been reported. Particularly, hypomagnesemia may occur, so magnesium levels should be checked regularly if used for a long time. This medication suppresses stomach acid, which may slightly increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract. Additionally, long-term high-dose use may increase the risk of fractures, so caution is needed for patients with osteoporosis. This medication may interact with other drugs, so particularly when used in combination with anticoagulants, antibiotics, antiviral agents, and anticonvulsants, a consultation with a doctor is advised. Data regarding use during pregnancy is limited, so it should be administered cautiously to pregnant women, and it is recommended not to use this medication while breastfeeding. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and treatment should be symptomatic, as this medication is not removed by dialysis. Lastly, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
Headache, dizziness, paresthesia, drowsiness, taste disorders, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, arthralgia, myalgia, gynecomastia, weakness, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, allergic reactions, back pain, chest pain, retrosternal pain, facial swelling, facial flushing, fatigue, fever.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture, at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. This helps maintain the medication's efficacy and safety.
