This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive reflux esophagitis, and is effective as long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. Additionally, it is used as a combination therapy with antibiotics for the treatment and prevention of recurrence in patients with Helicobacter pylori positive duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers. It also helps with the short-term treatment of upper gastrointestinal symptoms due to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and aids in the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers associated with NSAID use. It is utilized in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and the maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers after intravenous infusion, effectively improving gastrointestinal disorders.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this drug or any of its components, who have experienced hypersensitivity reactions, those with a history of allergic reactions to specific antibiotics, patients with a history of heart disease, and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. This drug can cause various side effects. Common gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and vomiting may occur; and rarely, blood disorders, skin rashes, liver function abnormalities, or neurological symptoms may appear. Additionally, severe allergic reactions or severe skin reactions may rarely occur, so immediate consultation with a physician is required if symptoms appear. Regular check-ups are necessary if this medication is taken for a long time. Long-term use may increase the risk of hypomagnesemia or fractures, so it is advisable to periodically check magnesium levels in the blood and undergo bone density tests. This drug can interact with other medications, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications you are currently taking. Caution is especially needed when taken with anticoagulants, antibiotics, antivirals, and anticonvulsants.   • Jaundice and hepatitis, liver failure.
  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, DRESS syndrome.
  • Severe headache, seizures.
  • Difficulty breathing, exacerbation of asthma, bronchospasm.
  • Severe swelling, peripheral edema, facial swelling.
  • Increased blood pressure.
  • Agranulocytosis, pancytopenia.
  • Interstitial nephritis.
  • Severe skin adverse reactions.
