An additional 4 weeks may be taken if needed. - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence: take 20 mg once daily. - Treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: take 20 mg once daily. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks, further medical advice is necessary.

This medication is effective for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis and is also used as long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It aids in the treatment and prevention of recurrence of peptic ulcers and duodenal ulcers as part of a combination therapy with antibiotics for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori. Additionally, it is useful for short-term treatment of upper gastrointestinal symptoms such as pain, discomfort, and burning sensation related to the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and is effective for the treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers that may occur during prolonged use. It is applicable for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and is also used for maintenance therapy after prevention of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. Overall, it helps in the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases and ulcer conditions.
