This medication helps in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially erosive reflux esophagitis, and prevents recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It also alleviates reflux symptoms in those without esophagitis. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection and is included in antibiotic combination therapy for prevention of recurrence. It is effective as short-term therapy for treating upper gastrointestinal symptoms associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). For patients who are on long-term NSAID therapy, it helps in treating gastric ulcers and preventing ulcers. It is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers after intravenous infusion. It is effectively used for various gastric diseases and related symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and treatment should be symptomatic and supportive.
