This medication lowers elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels while increasing HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, including familial or non-familial hypercholesterolemia, and mixed dyslipidemia. It is important to use this medication as an adjunct to diet, especially with a proper diet that limits the intake of saturated fats and cholesterol. When using lipid control medications, multiple risk factors should be considered, and secondary causes of dyslipidemia should be identified and treated if necessary. Lipid levels in patients with acute coronary events should be measured upon hospitalization or within 24 hours, providing reference for initiating LDL-lowering treatment before discharge. Overall, this drug is used to improve blood lipid levels and reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease.

Precautions

This medication poses a risk of muscle issues, so patients should inform their doctor immediately if they experience severe muscle pain or weakness. If muscle damage worsens, it can also affect kidney function, so treatment should be stopped or temporarily withheld in cases of poor kidney function or severe infections, surgery, trauma, etc. Patients with allergies to the active ingredients, severely impaired liver function, muscle diseases, severe kidney diseases, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Additionally, caution should be taken when administering this drug to patients susceptible to myopathy or those combining it with certain medications, and regular blood tests and monitoring of muscle status should be conducted as per the doctor's instruction. This medication can affect liver function, thus patients with a history of liver disease or elevated liver enzyme levels should undergo liver function tests before administration, as well as regular liver function checks during treatment. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication and must use appropriate contraception while taking it. Special care is required when using this medication in children and the elderly, particularly in the elderly due to a higher risk of myopathy, and careful management of dosage and condition according to the doctor's instruction is necessary. Drug interactions may increase the blood concentration of this medication, so patients taking other medications should inform healthcare providers and, if necessary, have their dosage adjusted or monitored. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be symptomatic, and liver function and muscle enzyme levels should be tested periodically. When storing this medication, keep it out of reach of children and avoid transferring it to other containers.
