This medicine is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly erosive esophagitis, and for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It is also utilized in combination with antibiotics for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori positive duodenal and peptic ulcers. It is effective for treating symptoms such as pain, discomfort, and burning sensation in the upper gastrointestinal tract caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as for the treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is also used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and maintenance therapy after prevention of rebleeding due to gastric or duodenal ulcers. This medicine effectively improves symptoms and recurrences of various gastrointestinal-related diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients with allergies or a history of hypersensitivity to this medication or its components, patients allergic to certain antibiotics, patients with a history of myocardial infarction, and nursing mothers should not receive this medication. Additionally, patients with allergies or a history of hypersensitivity to the dye Yellow No. 5 included in this medication should use it with caution. These include blood-related problems, allergic reactions, neurological symptoms, gastrointestinal issues, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes or itching, muscle pain, kidney problems, etc. Particularly with prolonged use, electrolyte imbalances such as hypomagnesemia may occur, so it is important to have regular blood tests. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, which can increase the risk of bacterial infections in the digestive tract, thus if diarrhea persists, one should consult a healthcare professional immediately. Prolonged use may increase the risk of fractures, so patients at risk for osteoporosis should undergo appropriate monitoring, including bone density testing. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is important to inform your healthcare provider, especially when taking antiviral drugs, anticoagulants, antibiotics, or anticonvulsants, and to carefully monitor for any changes in condition while taking the medication. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been fully established, so it is essential to consult with your physician if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. In cases of nursing, it is recommended to avoid breastfeeding as this medication may be passed into breast milk.
