Chronic persistent hepatitis is a condition where inflammation continuously occurs in the liver, leading to an ongoing increase in SGPT levels. This medication is used to protect liver function and alleviate inflammation.

How to take

Adult dose

Typically, 1 capsule for adults, taken orally 3 times a day after meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with complete bile duct obstruction. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, thus it should not be administered to patients with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. It should be used with caution in patients with chronic active hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, hypokalemia, severe pancreatic diseases, peptic ulcers, or gallstones. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur, and occasionally abdominal pain, constipation, heartburn, or discomfort in the upper abdomen may also occur. Moreover, hypersensitivity reactions like itching or rash may occur, and skin rashes can appear occasionally; however, these symptoms usually resolve with the concurrent use of antihistamines. Transient jaundice may appear, in which case it is advisable to discontinue the medication or to use jaundice treatment medications which will alleviate these symptoms. Rarely, generalized fatigue or dizziness may occur. It's vital to adhere to the prescribed dosage and administration guidelines, and if symptoms do not improve or abnormal symptoms develop after taking the medication for up to 8 weeks, discontinuation should be immediate, and consultation with a physician or pharmacist is recommended. It is important to keep this medication in a safe place out of the reach of children. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant are advised against using this medication as it may be harmful to the fetus. Lastly, caution should be exercised when taken with oral antidiabetic medications as it may intensify their effects.
