This medication is used for long-term maintenance therapy for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly erosive reflux esophagitis. It also helps alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used in combination with antibiotics for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori-positive duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers. It is effective for treating upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers related to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and it is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding after venous infusion due to gastric or duodenal ulcers. Thus, it is widely used for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to specific components or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions. Patients currently taking certain antibiotics or antivirals, those with a history of cardiovascular disease or myocardial infarction, and nursing women should avoid this medication. This medication contains a pigment called Yellow No. 5; users should be cautious if they are allergic to this component.
