Adult dose
For gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer: 10 mg is taken orally once daily. Based on symptoms, it may be increased to 20 mg once daily. It is administered for up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and up to 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. For erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg is taken orally once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. If unresolved after 8 weeks, it can be continued for an additional 8 weeks at 10 mg or 20 mg.

Hello. This medication is used for the treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, effective for the relief of symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease, and also works for long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease. It can also be used in conjunction with antibiotics for patients with gastrointestinal ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori infection. It is helpful for conditions associated with excessive gastric acid secretion such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Overall, it is used for the treatment and symptom improvement of various gastric and esophageal diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

For gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer: 10 mg is taken orally once daily. Based on symptoms, it may be increased to 20 mg once daily. It is administered for up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and up to 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. For erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg is taken orally once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. If unresolved after 8 weeks, it can be continued for an additional 8 weeks at 10 mg or 20 mg.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to specific components or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to benzimidazoles. Additionally, it should not be administered to those allergic to antibiotics such as amoxicillin or clarithromycin, used for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori. Caution is advised for patients taking specific heart-related medications or antivirals, and for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with impaired liver function, elderly patients, or those with a history of drug allergies should use this medication with caution. If symptoms such as rashes, itching, or hives occur while taking this medication, it should be discontinued immediately. It is advisable to undergo regular blood tests due to possible changes in red or white blood cell counts. Liver function tests should be performed regularly as liver function abnormalities may occur. Various side effects have been reported, including arrhythmias, blood pressure changes, gastrointestinal issues, and neurological symptoms; consult a doctor if abnormal symptoms occur. There may be drowsiness or dizziness while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. This medication can interact with other medications, so be sure to inform the doctor or pharmacist of any concurrent medications. Extra caution is required especially when using alongside antibiotics, antivirals, and anticoagulants. It is safest not to use this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
