How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 0.2 mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride orally once daily after a meal. Swallow this medicine whole; do not crush or chew it. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who have had an allergic reaction to this medication or its components, those with orthostatic hypotension who have sudden drops in blood pressure, patients with severely impaired liver function, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and patients with genetic disorders that affect lactose digestion should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with severely impaired kidney function, the elderly, and those taking certain blood pressure medications or PDE5 inhibitors (erectile dysfunction medications) should use this medication with caution. Especially patients currently taking alpha-1 blockers or with a history of urinary syncope should generally not use this medication but may do so with extreme caution if necessary. Serious side effects, such as fainting or loss of consciousness, may occur when taking this medication; therefore, it is important to monitor the patient's condition closely. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, drowsiness, low blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, skin rash, and dyspepsia may also occur. If abnormalities in liver function or jaundice occur, administration should be stopped immediately, and medical consultation should be sought. This medication can cause dangerously low blood pressure in cases of overdose, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly adhered to. It is important to change positions slowly, as blood pressure may drop and cause dizziness upon standing. This medication is a symptom-relief treatment; if ineffective, other treatment methods such as surgery should be considered. Caution is advised while driving or working at heights as dizziness may occur. It is essential to confirm the absence of prostate cancer before taking this medication, and persistent erection can rarely occur; if this happens, inform medical personnel immediately. Additionally, patients planning to undergo cataract or glaucoma surgery must inform their healthcare provider of this medication use. Patients with an allergy to sulfonamide drugs should also use caution. When taken with other blood pressure medications or specific antibiotics, antifungals, erectile dysfunction treatments, etc., interactions may lead to excessively low blood pressure; therefore, consultation with healthcare providers is necessary. This medication is not recommended for pregnant women, nursing mothers, or children under 18 years of age. For elderly patients, it is advisable to start with a lower dose, considering kidney function, and monitor their condition closely. When taking this medication, it should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed; if it is in the form of an orally disintegrating tablet, it should be taken with water or dissolved on the tongue. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of the reach of children, and it is best not to transfer it to another container.
