Symptomatic relief treatment of plaque psoriasis (localized and scalp)
This medication is used for the topical treatment of plaque psoriasis and is available in both ointment and gel forms, applied according to the affected area and severity. The ointment serves as a topical treatment for plaque psoriasis directly applied to the skin, aiding in the improvement of skin symptoms. The gel is primarily used for moderate to severe scalp psoriasis and extra-scalp plaque psoriasis, formulated specifically for the scalp to facilitate effective treatment. This medication helps alleviate skin inflammation and itching due to psoriasis and contributes to improving skin condition. Therefore, it is used for topical treatment of plaque psoriasis and scalp psoriasis.
Ointment: Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area once daily. The recommended treatment duration is 4 weeks, with a maximum dose of 15 g per day and not exceeding 100 g per week. The body surface area should not exceed 30%. Gel: Apply once daily to the affected area. It is recommended for use on the scalp for 4 weeks and on extra-scalp areas for 8 weeks. The daily amount should not exceed 15 g, and the maximum weekly amount should not exceed 100 g.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For instance, it should not be used in individuals who are allergic to this medication or its components, those with calcium metabolism issues, patients with specific types of psoriasis, individuals with severely impaired kidney or liver function, children, and in sensitive areas such as the face or around the eyes. Additionally, this medication contains corticosteroid components and should not be used on skin with infections, wounds, ulcers, or sensitive areas such as the anus or genitalia. Pregnant or breastfeeding women, elderly patients, and those with liver function impairment or diabetes should exercise extra caution when using this medication, as corticosteroids can affect blood sugar levels. While using this medication, side effects such as itching, rash, skin irritation, dryness, and redness may occur, and rarely, skin infections or allergic reactions can arise. Prolonged use or use over a wide area may lead to systemic side effects such as pituitary or adrenal insufficiency, increased blood sugar, and elevated intraocular pressure, so caution is needed. When using, be sure to follow the prescribed dosage and administration guidelines and avoid contact with sensitive areas such as the face, around the eyes, and genital skin. After use, hands should be washed thoroughly, and use should be discontinued as soon as symptoms improve. It is advisable not to use this medication in conjunction with other corticosteroid preparations or salicylic acid, and if combined with phototherapy, consult a physician. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a physician before using this medication, as it may affect the fetus or infant. In case of overdose, serious side effects such as elevated blood calcium levels and adrenal insufficiency may occur, so care must be taken not to exceed the prescribed dosage. This medication is not for ophthalmic use; if it gets into the eyes, rinse immediately and seek care from an ophthalmologist for severe symptoms. Finally, store this medication out of reach of children, use it within the designated period after opening, and do not refrigerate.
