This medication is used to treat symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. It improves cognitive function decline and memory damage due to dementia, helping patients manage daily life more smoothly. It is effective in stabilizing the patient's mental functions and slowing progression.

How to take

Adult dose

As Donepezil Hydrochloride, administer 5 mg once daily before bedtime. For 4 to 6 weeks, administer the 5 mg dosage, then the dose may be increased to 10 mg after evaluating clinical response. When increasing to 10 mg daily, caution should be exercised regarding gastrointestinal adverse reactions. The orally disintegrating film can be placed on the tongue and taken without water.

Precautions

This drug contains Donepezil Hydrochloride and is used for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. This drug should not be used by those who are allergic to Donepezil Hydrochloride or any ingredients of this medication, pregnant women or those who could become pregnant, and nursing mothers. Individuals with heart-related conditions should use this medication cautiously as it may lead to issues like bradycardia or arrhythmia. Patients with a history of peptic ulcers or those taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should carefully monitor their state due to a risk of gastrointestinal bleeding or worsening of ulcers. Those with a history of asthma or obstructive pulmonary diseases should exercise caution as it may worsen symptoms due to bronchoconstriction or increased mucus secretion. Patients with extrapyramidal disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, should use this medication cautiously as it may exacerbate symptoms. During treatment with this medication, severe side effects such as syncope, cardiac abnormalities, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver dysfunction, seizures, movement disorders, acute renal failure, acute pancreatitis, or dyspnea may occur; consult a doctor immediately if such symptoms arise. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, insomnia, headaches, fatigue, muscle pain, palpitations, and various other side effects may arise, so notify healthcare workers if unusual symptoms persist or worsen. Patients with cardiac conduction disorders or a history of QT interval prolongation, those with heart diseases or electrolyte imbalances may have a risk of cardiac side effects and may require regular ECG monitoring. Caution is required while driving or operating machinery due to potential dizziness or fatigue, particularly during the initial dosing or when increasing the dose. This medication is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women and should only be used after consultation with a specialist when absolutely necessary. Safety for children has not been established, and it is advisable not to use it. This medication may affect liver and kidney functions, so regular blood tests may be necessary. In cases of overdose, serious symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, bradycardia, hypotension, dyspnea, and seizures may occur; immediate hospital treatment is required. This medication is in the form of orally disintegrating film and should be taken by placing it on the tongue and allowing it to dissolve without water, and should be kept out of reach of children. There may be interactions with other medications, so it is essential to inform healthcare personnel of any medications being taken.
