This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension. Additionally, it helps to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular disease-related mortality in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, and stroke, or in high-risk diabetic patients who cannot use ACE inhibitors. Therefore, it plays an important role in both hypertension management and cardiovascular disease prevention.
